President's Message

I write this letter in
gratitude for your help in meeting the challenges of the past year and with optimism for a
successful year ahead. The diligent efforts of volunteers, staff, and Board members have
provided Meals on Wheels of Syracuse (MOWS) with a formidable and successful program in
2001. MOWS is on solid financial ground. An investment policy was developed to assure our
financial security.
A comprehensive and realistic strategic plan, supported by both Board and staff, was formed which will permit MOWS to even better address its mission and vision. We approved and celebrated this accomplishment at a Staff/Board Retreat.
Our hard working staff has always worked beyond their job descriptions, filling in where necessary, being flexible and really being devoted to doing the best possible job for our clients. We are very fortunate to have individuals of such high caliber. The Board of Meals on Wheels of Syracuse is composed of outstanding professional people who represent a wide variety of business, religious, and philanthropic organizations. They are devoted to addressing our mission and vision.
Corporate sponsorship has been outstanding through the Silver Platter Campaign, grants, events, Office for Aging and outreach efforts to local businesses and organizations. In addition to financial backing, many have sponsored our Volunteer Luncheon and have also supplied special gifts and food for our clients.
More volunteers have joined Meals on Wheels of Syracuse and our pleas for extra help have always been met with quick responses from the community. We cannot adequately express our appreciation for all you do. We truly could not operate without you!
We reached out to more numerous and diverse clientele and shall continue in these efforts hoping that people of all races, age and income levels and those with diverse nutritional needs look to Meals on Wheels of Syracuse for service. It is our mission that no one in need go hungry.
Thank you all for your continuing interest and generous support. We know you will continue to be part of our efforts. The Board and Staff wish you a peaceful year ahead.
