Job Description

JOB TITLE:  Floating Meal Delivery Driver

RESPONSIBLE TO:  Volunteer Coordinator/Logistics and Operations Coordinator

Required qualifications:

• A reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license and adequate NYS automobile insurance coverage
• A clean motor vehicle driving record
• Knowledge and comfort driving the Syracuse city streets and the surrounding areas
• Willingness to cover any open delivery routes each shift; varies daily
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Willingness to assist with agency operations tasks if delivery routes are covered for the day
• Willingness to work Monday through Friday; 10:00am-2:00pm

• Ability to accurately read driving directions and follow written and verbal directions
• Demonstrated reliability and dependability
• Demonstrated customer service skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently AND as part of a team
• Demonstrated flexibility and time management skills

Responsibilities:

• Collect daily driver and delivery directions.
• Assist loading personal vehicle with meal carriers, as needed
• Transport hot and cold meals in a timely fashion to home delivered meal recipients
• Deliver meals to the recipient’s doors following printed delivery directions.
• Return and unload meal carriers to the Meals on Wheels facility daily.
• Report undelivered meals and concerns about meal recipients to the Volunteer Coordinator upon your return from the delivery route each day.
• Assist Logistics/Operations coordinator with facilities tasks if time allows during assigned shift
• Perform other duties as requested by your supervisors or the Executive Director.
