Meals on Wheels Flu Shot Clinic October 7
Community Invited to Open House/Volunteer Recruitment Fair

Syracuse, NY – October 1, 2014Meals on Wheels of Syracuse will be having a Flu Shot Clinic during an Open House and Volunteer Recruitment Fair on Tuesday, October 7, 2014.  The event will be open to the public from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Meals on Wheels of Syracuse, 300 Burt Street in the Almus Olver Towers.  The entrance to Meals on Wheels is located off of Oakwood Ave, south of Burt Street.

Mason Kaufman, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels of Syracuse, said “We wanted to offer flu shots to our volunteers and employees.   We decided to make this an open house and volunteer recruitment fair, as a public service to the entire community.   A Rite Aid pharmacist will be in our facility to administer the flu shots.  There is a fee for the flu shot and insurance plans often cover the cost.”

Kaufman added, “Our staff will be available to answer questions about getting meals or volunteering.  We had a great turnout at our last open house and we hope to attract others who may be interested volunteering.  We have more than 30 delivery routes to fill with volunteers each weekday.  Some of our volunteers are snowbirds and will be going to Florida soon.  We need to recruit some new volunteers to get us through the winter months.”
